Most likely you incorrectly entered your ID address or IP-address
of your server. Pay attention on the version Microsoft NetMeeting.
Version 3.0 has many mistakes and doesn't allow to make calls in
normal mode. We strongly recommend to update it minimally to the
version 3.1. The latest version you can load from
We recommend to use codec G.723.1. At that connection
speed 28800 (28k) is completely enough for normal call.
Check:
1) if sound card drivers are installed
2) if headers are connected to proper connector
3) volume regulator directly in headers (if exists)
4) volume regulator on computer in the panel of volume regulators
5) is it possible to reproduce any standard WAV files by any sound record-player
6) try to change DirectSound parameter in NetMeeting installation settings
Check:
1) selected audio-codec, it should be G.723.1
2) that microphone is connected to proper connector
3) 3) in the panel of volume regulators, that microphone channel
is selected and that its recording level is on maximum
This peep appears because you switch turn on channel on reproducing.
This is mistake. Microphone must be turned off on reproducing channel
and turned on recording channel only. For changing to recording
channels select in the panel of volume regulators in menu:
Parameters -> Properties -> Record -> OK.
Besides, peep can arise because some sound loop back from loud
speakers to the microphone. We recommend to use headers rather but
not desk loud speakers.
This situation can arise because of shortage of connection speed
with Internet for simultaneous audio transmission and browsing
of Internet pages. This is typical situation at dial-up connection
with low speed. We recommend to close InternetExplorer and mail
programs for a time of telephone conversation.
This situation can arise because power of your processor in computer is
not sufficient for simultaneous sound processing and work of other tasks.
We recommend to close all unnecessary programs at a point of conversation.
If you don't start other programs at a time of call through NetMeeting,
Pentium 166-MMX with RAM = 32 MB is quite enough.
For work of Microsoft NetMeeting practically every Windows
version matches. We recommend to use Windows-98.
